saturday at maryville's raceway park. the driver and the victim are family. marcus johnson of santa rosa was in the pit area watching warmup laps for a sprint car race and hasn't when a car driven by his own cousin, 17- year-old chase johnson, flew off the track. marcus was hit and killed. his dad said the two were more than cousins. they were best friends who shared a passion for car racing. >> two of them were peas in a pod and they would enjoy everything and and enjoy ef-- enjoy everything together and enjoy every minute of life together. >> the steering wheel popped up, causing him to lose control. at this point, the yuba county sheriff's office is investigating the cause of the crash. chase, the driver, was not hurt in the crash. the other person killed in the crash, 68-year-old dale windergem was in the pit area and owned cars scheduled to race. at the time of the accident, about 1600 spectators were in the stands. another 600 people were in the pit area of that racetrack complex in marysville. so it's amazing more people weren't hurt. in our next hour of "mornings on 2," what expe
